Bunches of Lithops aucampiae

The LR&CF was contacted by a farmer near Griekwastad in South Africa to inform us that he has news of a newly discovered colony of Lithops aucampiae plants on a farm in the area. We jumped at the opportunity to see these plants which were reported in a plump condition. In March 2019 we visited the colony on a slight slope where many small thorn trees provided shade for the large clumps of L. a.a. aucampiae plants. The very large colony are hundreds of plants strong and with minimal farmed stock on the land and far away from any public roads, it is hoped that this colony will only need to fight the elements to survive.
